Summer is officially here and it is time to bring on the sun, well a safe sun that is. Show off you tan this summer with our delectable spray-on tans customized to your skin tone.
Our advice when getting a spray tan is always to err on the light side. More self-tanner doesn’t just mean a deeper tan, it’s also more likely to streak, crack and fade poorly.

Prep yourself! The morning of your appointment, use a non-oily scrub to exfoliate your skin, particularly the knees and elbows (which tend to absorb more tanner and turn dark), as well as the neck, chest, shins, and face (where the skin is thinner and streaks and cracks show up). Coat any scabs or recent scars with Vaseline, and if you use Retin-A (or an over-the-counter retinoid) or take Accutane, talk to your doctor about going off it one week before your appointment. These can affect how the active ingredient, DHA, is absorbed, which can lead to a splotchy tan.

Dress properly. This is not the time for your best lingerie. Wear dark underwear (thongs are best) or none at all for no tan lines. After your tan, don’t wear tight clothing and go bra-less. If you must wear a bra, loosen the straps and ask the technician to help get you dressed. Snug clothing can remove tan and leave marks once developed. No jeans, no built in bra tank shirts please!
Before getting dressed make sure you feel somewhat dry. If you don’t, ask your technician to dry you a little more. Don’t feel rushed to dress.

Ok! So you did all this and the next day you realize that you have stains on your hands, dark wrists, ankles or underarms. What do you do? For total removal bleach is fabulous. Sally Hansen’s facial bleach will completely remove tanning errors. For areas that are just a little too dark scrub gently with a whitening toothpaste and let sit for a few minutes, repeat if necessary.

Make it last. It’s best not to let your skin get wet for eight to ten hours. Don’t exfoliate for at least a week, after bathing pat dry with your towel, shave your legs as infrequently as possible with a fresh razor and just a little shaving cream. And moisturize from head to toe after you shower and before bed daily.

One more note! There are so many things that can affect your spray tan and even if you tan in the same shade each time it can come out different, but why? Again, it comes down to your skin. Your skin is a living thing, and is affected by many things like: time of the month, season, food you eat, stress, medication you take etc.
If your tan is different, even though solution used was the same and your prep was the same, the most probable cause is the condition of your skin. I tan almost every other week and sometimes it comes out perfect and fades perfect. While other times it isn’t as even or I grab dark in certain areas or I fade poorly. Unfortunately, this is just the way it is with spray on tanning and again this is why I always try to sway clients to go a lighter shade rather than a darker one.

We are excited to announce our partner - OC TAN 2 U in St. Louis, Missouri. It is lead by Danielle Ryan. This partnership has been a long time coming and we are very excited about Danielle joining OC Tan 2 U Spray Tanning (Mandy & Shana)!

We wondered: What if we took them out of their sunny, casual West Coast comfort zone and turned them into real housewives of, oh, say, New York City? And they, being as curious as we were (not to mention fabulously good sports), went along. O's beauty director, Valerie Monroe, reports.

It was going to be the makeover story of a lifetime, but I had no idea."Wouldn't it be fun," said Adam Glassman, O's creative director, "to restyle the Real Housewives of Orange County to look like New Yorkers?""Orange County?" I said. "Where's that?"A few weeks later, I was on a plane to L.A., reading the biographies of the five housewives who star in the hit Bravo show. Adam was already there, having rounded up the women, along with the brilliant celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves, a fashion stylist, a makeup artist, a set designer, and a seamstress. The photo studio was a beehive of activity by the time I arrived: The housewives had alighted, one by one, from their cars; some fittings had started; and the place was buzzing with the kind of girlish excitement that one might expect from five women who were about to be stripped of nearly every aesthetic convention they were accustomed to—and then utterly made over.In the unlikely event you, like me, aren't acquainted with this particular Orange County look, here's a rundown:

1. Hair: blonde and long

2. Skin: very tan (often spray-tanned)

3. Teeth: blindingly white

4. Lips: conspicuously full

5. Noses: pert

6. Breasts: notably large

7. Tummies: flat; hips: nonexistent

8. Nails: long, French-tipped, and square

9. Jewelry: big and frequently diamond

If you ever catch The Millionaire Matchmaker, Patti Stanger is a woman who knows her business. She also knows a few things about smart skin care. During the episode that aired tonight, April 16, 2009, Patti emphasizes exactly what we here at OC TAN 2 U fully believe in- Having a beautiful tan- as fake as it may be- because it's safer. Tanning is fast becoming the new black sheep of behavior. More and more research comes out on a daily basis that proves that tanning is directly linked to the development of melanoma. I have several clients and have talked to a million girls who are avid tanners until the day they go to the doctor and moles come back as pre-cancerous. Then all of a sudden they panic and want to take care of their skin and their bodies and don't know how.That's were we come in.I could go on and on about research and statistical data and clinical studies that proves all this mumbo jumbo, but all you have to do is open a magazine or watch a little tv to know that it's true, so I won't bore you here.

But I will say that when Patti stated that she doesn't tan because she doesn't want to get cancer---- she officially became the smartest woman in all of LA. She's not being a businesswoman.
